SUMMARY:Denison: An Alternative Characterization of the World Economy
DESCRIPTION:The Global Studies Seminar welcomes Luis Villanueva\, assistant professor of economics at Denison\, presenting "An Alternative Characterization of the World Economy Using Patterns of Technical Change." Conventionally\, economies in the world are characterized by their income levels and geographical locations. From the perspective of classical political economy\, capitalist economies are complex and dynamical in nature\; countries are constantly going through various patterns of technical changes resulting different growth and distributional outcomes. This work explores an alternative way of characterizing the world economy based on patterns of technical change. Denison University's Global Studies Seminars are interdisciplinary intellectual forums to discuss and debate academic and policy issues of global importance.
