DESCRIPTION:"Scandalous Voices\, Journalistic Truths" is a discussion of women in the media about journalistic truth and "fake news." The roundtable is part of a three-year program of the Robbins Hunter Museum to celebrate Victoria Claflin Woodhull\, a native of Homer\, Ohio\, and the first woman to run for U.S. President in 1870. This roundtable will focus on Victoria Woodhull and her sister's newspaper\, Woodhull and Claflin's Weekly\, of which they were primary contributors and editors. The paper was known for its radical views\, some of which   like free love   are still quite controversial today. However\, many of the other issues the sisters approached were\, and are still\, relevant- woman's rights\, labor laws\, and revealing frauds on Wall Street. The discussion will tie the sisters' success in media to today's issues of journalistic integrity\, relationships between the media and administration\, and the need for visible truth in media. Speakers include Anne Fisher (NPR)\, Monica Day (NBC)\, Mary Yost (Columbus Dispatch)\, Julie Carr-Smyth (Associated Press) and Connie Schultz (Creators Syndicate).
