SUMMARY:Denison: Screening of the documentary 'EMBRACE'
DESCRIPTION:Denison University's Embodied Wellness Committee presents a screening of "EMBRACE\," a documentary about the issue of body loathing\, in recognition of National Eating Disorders Week at 7 p.m. on Thursday\, Feb. 23\, at Slayter Hall auditorium (200 Ridge Road). This event is free and open to the public. For more information\, contact Heather Borland at 740-587-6358 or visit Denison.edu. "EMBRACE" follows body image activist Taryn Brumfitt as she explores the issue of body loathing\, inspiring us to change the way we feel about ourselves and think about our bodies. When Brumfitt posted an unconventional before-and-after photo in 2013\, it was seen by more than 100 million people worldwide and sparked international media frenzy. After receiving more than 7\,000 emails and messages from people all over the world\, Brumfitt realized that there was a global body-hating epidemic and felt compelled to find answers. "EMBRACE" is told from Brumfitt's point of view as she traverses the globe talking to experts\, women in the street and well-known personalities about the alarming rates of body image issues that are seen in people of all body types.
