SUMMARY:Denison: The Wanted 18 screening
DESCRIPTION:The Denison University Human Rights Film Festival presents a screening of ?The Wanted 18? followed by a Q & A with director Amer Shomali at 7 p.m. Tuesday\, Nov. 3\, in the auditorium of Slayter Hall (200 Ridge Road). The film is free and open to the public. For more information\, contact Isis Nusair at 740-587-8537 or visit Denison.edu. The Wanted 18 tells the story of 18 dairy cows being brought to the West Bank town of Beit Sahour during the first Palestinian Intifada\, as part of a self-sufficiency movement\, which were then declared a threat to the security of the state of Israel. Using stop-motion animation\, archival footage\, interviews\, and graphic novel cartoons\, the film uses humor to get at a serious subject. This is a poignant film about nation-building from the bottom up\, by the people not the politicians. Variety called the film ?mind-opening? and ?ingenious.?
