SUMMARY:VETERANS DAY PROGRAM
DESCRIPTION:Granville and the Military:\n\nA Tradition of Service\n\n200 Years of Answering the Nation's Call \n\n \n\n\n\nA special exhibit focusing on the local men and women who placed our nation's security before their own lives will open at the Granville Historical Society Museum on Veteran's Day\, November 12\, 2012. Their story and record of sacrifice is an integral part of Granville's local heritage.\n\n\n\nGranville's link to national military service has been a long and honored one. The community was founded by a large number of Revolutionary War veterans. Two hundred years ago the new community responded to the nation's call to the War of 1812\, sending its local militia unit under Captain Levi Rose to battle the British and Indians near Detroit.\n\n\n\nSince that time Granvillians have worn the uniform and faithfully served in every armed conflict up to and including conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
