The play portrays the seismic and deeply personal impact Matthew’s death had on this small town while also demonstrating the power of the human spirit to triumph over bigotry and violence. Students will get a deep dive in character analysis and audiences will be left breathless. Open to Grades 6-12. Rehearsals are January 8-February 22 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-8:30pm. Tuition is $300. Performances are Friday February 22 and Saturday February 23 at 7pm, Saturday February 23 and Sunday February 24 at 2pm in Larry W. & Dawn Holt Anderson Children's Theatre. Winner of 4 Tony Awards, In the Heights (Music and Lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Book by Quiara Alegría Hudes and Conceived By Lin-Manuel Miranda) will bring New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood to the Mary Kay Booher Main Stage! This 2008 musical tells the universal story of a vibrant Hispanic-American community - where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music. It’s a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures, where the biggest struggles can be deciding which traditions you take with you, and which ones you leave behind. Students will have a blast with this upbeat hip-hop score and audiences will be blown away by this powerhouse musical. Open to Grades 6-12.
