Concert on the Green: Yiddishe Cup Klezmer Band
Yiddishe Cup – Sunday July 12
Food Truck: Sophie's Pierogi
Yiddishe Cup, formed in 1988, is regarded as one of the Top Ten Klezmer bands in the North America. The has played across the US at festivals, colleges and numerous Jewish gatherings. Klezmer (Yiddish for village musician) is a hybrid of Eastern European Jewish folk music, American swing, Yiddish theater tunes and Israeli horas. The Evening Post of Wellington, New Zealand called it “a delicious concoction that sounds like jazz but with 11 secret herbs and spices added.” The only group Granville Rec has ever booked that features a “shtickmeister”, Yiddishe Cup blends outstanding musicianship with an eccentric music mix and hip humor. - See more at: http://www.granvillerec.org/programs-sports/concerts-on-the-green-2/#sthash.0l3pJb1H.dpuf
