Denison: 'Access to Unapproved Medical Interventions in the Zika Epidemic'
The Ronneberg Lecture Series welcomes Kelly McBride Folkers ’12 presenting “Access to Unapproved Medical Interventions in the Zika Epidemic” at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 2, in the lecture hall at Burton D. A research associate at the New York University School of Medicine, under Dr. Arthur Caplan in the division of medical ethics, Folkers is pursuing her masters degree at the New York University Center for Bioethics and writing her thesis on gender, racial and social equity in clinical research and medicine. Folkers is researching the Zika virus and the ethical issues surrounding the epidemic. She plans to pursue her doctorate in the history and ethics of public health. Folkers has been published in The New York Times, Forbes, The Chicago Tribune, CNN and The American Journal for Bioethics blog. This event is co-sponsored by the Departments of Biology and Psychology, NERD, SYNAPSE and the Neuroscience Program.
