Denison: 'Beauty Bites Beast'
Denison University welcomes director Ellen Snortland presenting a screening and discussion of her documentary, “Beauty Bites Beast,” at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25, in the auditorium of Slayter Hall (200 Ridge Road). This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Robin Brown at 740-587- 6297 or visit Denison.edu. The mission of “Beauty Bites Beast” is to "normalize" empowerment self-defense as a human need and right and to make it accessible, portable and affordable to populations most at risk. “Beauty Bites Beast” flips ideas about female helplessness, as women and others at-risk undertake the transformative experience of learning verbal, emotional and physical empowerment-based self-defense. After the screening, there will be a discussion about violence, trauma, somatic interventions, and empowerment self-defense with Snortland and area experts. Snortland, also known as the “Safety Godmother,” is an author, actor, attorney, radio and TV personality who has worked for decades empowering people to fight back against violence. Her visit is funded in part by the Laura C. Harris Endowment.
