Denison: Community for Climate Conference
Understanding the ways in which climate intersects with people and businesses across the globe is a complex endeavor. Denison University students are bringing together industry experts and interested college students and citizens from across the Midwest to participate in the Community for Climate Conference, taking place at Denison on Saturday, April 14, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Mitchell Center (200 Livingston Drive). The fee for the conference is $10, which includes lunch. To register, visit conferences.denison.edu/intersecteco. The conference will host two keynote speakers: Heather Taylor-Miesle, President of the Ohio Environmental Council; and Dr. Cecilia Martinez, co-founder and executive director at the Center for Earth, Energy and Democracy. In addition, a number of workshops will be offered. In support of their efforts around environmental communication, Denison students have launched a nonprofit organization, Intersect ECO. "IntersectECO is focusing on networking passionate people from all backgrounds, building tangible skills, and sparking conservations around the topic of environmental communication," said Summer Aldred, one of the student organizers. "This is the second annual Community for Climate Conference," said student organizer Craig Freeland. "There will be time to meet and collaborate with passionate environmentally minded people, learn about campaigns going on across the Midwest, connect with a possible employer/internship, and learn more about the intersectional environmental movement through the lens of environmental communication."
