Denison University’s Office of Sustainability and Homestead hold an Earth Day celebration from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, at the Homestead (1385 North Street). This event is free and open to the public. Walking and biking are encouraged, but parking is available at the Denison Recycling Center and rides will be provided for anyone who needs assistance. For more information, contact Kim Byce at bycek@denison.edu or visit denison.edu/EarthWeek. The celebration includes an open house with tours of the Homestead’s buildings and grounds, as well as vendors and a sunset hike. Families are welcome and children’s activities are planned for the afternoon. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Celebrating over 40 years in existence, the Homestead is a student residential option based on sustainable technologies, simplicity in life choices, consciousness about energy consumption and food production, and community decision-making. The Homestead is a unique living-learning community that exemplifies Denison's mission as a liberal arts college.
