Denison: Film screening of 'As I Open My Eyes'
The Women’s and Gender Studies Film Festival presents a screening of the drama “As I Open My Eyes,” moderated by Denison professors Isis Nusair and Anna Nekola. A few months before the revolution in Tunisia, 18 year-old Farah has a passion for life and sings in a political rock band. Her mother, knowing the dangers of Tunisia, wants her to pursue a career as a doctor. This film offers a nuanced portrait of the implications of the “Arab Spring” on the lives of young people in the region. The film festival takes place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evenings from March 13 to April 24, in Slayter Auditorium. The films include: “Radio Kobani” on March 13, “After Tiller” on March 27, “As I Open My Eyes” on April 3, “The Uncondemned” on April 10, “The Apology” on April 17, and “AWOL” on April 24.
