The Women’s and Gender Studies Film Festival presents a screening of the documentary “The Apology,” moderated by Wei-Ting Yen, pre-doctoral fellow of political science at Denison. “The Apology” explores the lives of former “comfort women,” the more than 200,000 girls forced into sexual slavery during World War II. Grandma Gil in South Korea, Grandma Cao in China, and Grandma Adela in the Philippines are speaking up after decades of living in silence and shame about their experiences. The film festival takes place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evenings from March 13 to April 24, in Slayter Auditorium. The films include: “Radio Kobani” on March 13, “After Tiller” on March 27, “As I Open My Eyes” on April 3, “The Uncondemned” on April 10, “The Apology” on April 17, and “AWOL” on April 24.
