Denison: Former Texas State Senator Wendy Davis
The Denison University student club, Denison Democrats, welcomes former Texas State Senator Wendy Davis at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 23, at Swasey Chapel (200 Chapel Drive). This event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Ginny Sharkey at 740-587-6266 or visit Denison.edu. Sen. Davis served in the Texas State Senate from 2009 to 2015, and she was a 2014 Texas Democratic Gubernatorial nominee. Widely recognized as a passionate advocate for women's healthcare and other national issues that threaten our individual freedoms, Sen. Davis prides herself on the ability to see an issue from multiple perspectives, while forging a path to consensus and compromise. Her historic 13-hour filibuster in the Texas Senate attempted to stop a legislative effort that would have dramatically reduced women's access to healthcare services in her state.
