Denison: Global Studies Seminar "Germans Go to the Polls"
The Global Studies Seminar welcomes Katy Crossley-Frolick, associate professor of political science, presenting “Germans Go to the Polls: Analyzing the Impact of the 2017 Elections for Europe and Beyond.” Germans head to the polls on Sept. 24, 2017, to elect a new parliament and a new Chancellor. What might the election outcome look like after other pivotal elections in the Netherlands and France, and flirtation with populist radical right parties? Will Angela Merkel win a fourth term as Chancellor? How might the election impact ongoing Brexit negotiations? How will the election outcome impact transatlantic relations with the United States, and its relations with Russia to the East? What variables shaped voter preferences? These and other questions are the focus of this Global Studies Seminar.
