‘The Weather Variations: Connecting Data, Sculpture, and Music’ by Nathalie Miebach
The Denison Museum will debut “The Weather Variations Connecting Data, Sculpture, and Music,” an exhibition featuring sculptures, musical scores, and installations from Mellon artist-in-residence Nathalie Miebach on Friday, Jan. 25, through Saturday, May 18. The museum is free and open to the public on Mondays through Friday from noon to 4 p.m.
Miebach explores the intersections of art and science by translating scientific data related to meteorology, ecology, and oceanography into woven sculptures, musical scores, and installations. Miebach examines digital technologies and traditional crafts combine to give a more nuanced expression and understanding of information.
As a teaching museum, Denison Museum engages in and supports learning and inquiry in the liberal arts. Denison Museum is committed to caring for and managing its collection and resources for the benefit of a diverse audience that extends beyond students and faculty to include visitors and learners from around the world.
