Dr. Eben Kenah will discuss the role of math and statistics in public health using historical and current examples. For example: Why was the eradication of polio possible even though we couldn't vaccinate everyone on Earth? How do we identify occupational hazards when workers are almost always healthier than the general population? What was so compelling about John Snow's conclusion that cholera was spread through contaminated water? Eben Kenah is a Granville High School alum and holds an ScD in Epidemiology and an MS Biostatistics from the Harvard School of Public Health. He is an associate professor of biostatistics in the College of Public Health at The Ohio State University, where he develops statistical methods for infectious disease epidemiology.
