'A New Vocabulary for Ancient Blackness'
The Denison Museum and the Department of Classical Studies welcome Junior Fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows, Sarah Derbew, presenting "A New Vocabulary for Ancient Blackness."
Derbew’s research focuses on critical and self-reflexive theorizations of race and black skin color in ancient Greek literature (tragedy, historiography, novel) and art, from the fifth century BCE to the fourth century CE.
Derbew will be assistant professor of Classics At Stanford University and the Center for Comparative Studies In Race and Ethnicity in the Fall of 2020.
