Denison University welcomes Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Cairo University Shereen Abouelnaga, presenting "Theorizing from the South: Gender and Agency in the Middle East."
Abouelnaga will explore the multiple ways women from the global south have reconfigured and complicated the implications of feminism and women's agency.
Abouelnaga is a feminist literary critic who focuses on gender using the lens of socialist feminism. Her books include, "Nation in the Narration of Arab Women Writers," "Intellectuals in the Transitional Phase of Egypt," and "Women in Revolutionary Egypt: Gender and the New Geographics of Identity."
