Violinist Anyango Yarbo-Davenport Presents a Virtual Recital
Born and raised in Munich (Germany), Yarbo-Davenport was born into the musical family of American soprano Africa Yarbo-Davenport and the late Austrian conductor Hans Peter Jillich. She regularly performs in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Royal Festival Hall London, Teatro Mayor Bogotá, Mozarteum Saal Salzburg, and Teatro Colon. Her performances can be heard on Radio & TV in the US, South America and Europe. She is the winner of the Theodore Presser Scholar Award, International Competition for Romantic Music, IBLA World Competition Italy, Jugend Musiziert Germany, Alpen-Adria Wettbewerb, MTNA USA, the Rotary Club Salzburg Prize, among others. Yarbo-Davenport’s upcoming recording of violin and piano works was awarded the coveted research prize of the Banco Santander de Colombia.
?Currently she is assistant professor of Violin and Coordinator of Violin and Chamber Music at the Pontifical Javeriana University. Yarbo-Davenport conducted and directed the New Horizons Orchestras at Eastman from 2009-14. The WXXI documentary "Music for Life: The Story of New Horizons" in which Yarbo-Davenport and her orchestras appear, won at the 59th Emmy Awards.
